Company Overview:
National Agri-Food Biotechnology Institute (NABI) is an autonomous institute under the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India. Established in 2010, NABI aims to transform the Agri-food sector in India through innovative biotechnology solutions. The institute focuses on biofortification, development of designer crops, and creating sustainable solutions for improved nutrition.

Current Openings:

1. Research Associate I (RA-I)

  • Project Title: Genomics for the development of disease-resistant and climate-resilient crop varieties
  • Principal Investigator: Dr. Sivasubramanian R, Scientist-D
  • Qualification: Ph.D. in Life Sciences/Biotechnology with at least two peer-reviewed international publications in SCI journals.
  • Desirable Experience: Genetics and genomics of crop plants, molecular biology techniques (PCR, recombinant DNA cloning, plant transformation), handling and analysis of genomics and NGS data, experience in genome editing.
  • Responsibilities: Work on genomics and genome editing for crop improvement, coordinate projects and prepare reports for funding agencies.
  • Emoluments: Rs. 58,000/- per month plus HRA.

2. Senior Research Fellow (SRF)

  • Project Title: Biocatalysts from microbial resources for production of nutraceuticals
  • Principal Investigator: Dr. Amit Kumar Rai, Scientist-D
  • Qualification: Master’s in Biotechnology/Microbiology/Life Science/Biochemistry with two years of research experience and at least one SCI journal publication. Must qualify national level examinations (CSIR-UGC-NET, GATE, etc.).
  • Desirable Experience: High impact peer-reviewed publications, microbial fermentation and biocatalyst production, chromatographic separation techniques (HPLC, column chromatography).
  • Emoluments: Rs. 42,000/month + HRA.
  • Age Limit: 32 years (Relaxation as per GOI rules).

  • Desirable Experience: Agricultural biotechnology, plant molecular biology, molecular markers, and QTL mapping studies.
  • Responsibilities: Genotyping, phenotyping, genome-wide association mapping, and QTL mapping in wheat.
  • Emoluments: Rs. 58,000/- per month plus HRA.

5. Junior Research Fellow (JRF)

  • Project Title: Characterization of saponin polymorphism in irradiation-induced TILLING population of soybean
  • Principal Investigator: Dr. Panneerselvam Krishna Murthy, Scientist-D
  • Qualification: MSc/M.Tech in Biotechnology/Biochemistry/Agriculture/Botany/Zoology/Microbiology with 55% marks (relaxation for SC/ST/OBC/PWD). Must qualify national level tests (DBT-BET, CSIR-UGC-NET, GATE, etc.).
  • Desirable Experience: Plant molecular biology techniques, HPLC, TLC, soybean tissue culture techniques.
  • Responsibilities: Isolation and separation of saponins, cloning of candidate genes, hybridization, and gene mapping.
  • Emoluments: Rs. 37,000 + 18% HRA per month for the 1st and 2nd years as JRF, Rs. 42,000 + 18% HRA per month for the 3rd year as SRF.
  • Age Limit: 28 years (Relaxation as per GOI rules).

6. Student Intern

  • Project Title: Unravelling the molecular roles of Rice Seed-expressed bZIP (RISBZs) Transcription Factors using genome editing approach (GAP66)
  • Principal Investigator: Dr. Prafull Salvi, Scientist-C
  • Qualification: Undergraduate/Postgraduate in engineering or postgraduate in Science (botany, biochemistry, biotechnology).
  • Stipend: Rs. 5000/- per month (Fixed)
  • Duration: Two months from the date of commencement.
